Everyone knows that as fun as it is to park hop between the Disney World Parks in Orlando, it can also be a painfully slow process. Leaving one park to stand in line for a bus ride to another park, only to have to go through the security line… again.
Well leave it to Disney to come up with a solution. It’s called Express Travel, and for only $19 per person for one day, or just $29 per person for 7 day access, you and your friends can now hop from one park to another without the hassle of standing in line for security at each park. All you need is a Park Hopper ticket!
We did not hear about it til the last night of a recent trip that we took. It sounded so amazing, instead of driving home the next morning like we normally do, we stayed and went to all 4 parks just to see how it worked. I can tell you that it was well worth the $30 for the two us.
At each park you have a private exit / entrance where you board a bus dedicated specifically to this new program. (see map of pick up points below)
Here is what we did:
We drove to Hollywood Studios for our first park. Keep in mind, you have to get to one of the parks first and go through security at the first park for this service. They do not pick you up at your resort. After going in the main entrance, we immediately walked back by the rock and dollar coaster entrance. There we saw the sign and the counter for Express Travel. When they asked us which park we wanted to go to, we just said, “which one is next”. As it turned out it was Magic Kingdom. On the way there, there were only 2 other people on the bus with us.
The drop off point at MK was in tomorrow land which was really neat because we were driving behind he scenes. Yes we missed the walk down main street, but feeling like a VIP and skipping the security line was awesome!
Next stop, Animal Kingdom. There we got dropped off by the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. This not only saved us a ton of time by not having to walk all the way through the park, it was close to the real reason we came to this park. The Ahi Tuna Nachos at Yak and Yeti. If you like ahi tuna, this could be you favorite meal of the whole trip.
Now off to EPCOT, where they drop you off to the left of the Epcot Ball (Spaceship Earth). Still inside the park, but not as central in the park as the others. After a quick stroll over to Rose and Crown to get a quick drink using our Tables in Wonderland card, it was back to Hollywood Studios, where the day began.
Overall, we spent a total of about 5-6 hours touring 4 parks, hitting one to two areas or attraction at each. We would NEVER have been able to cover all the parks in that short of time. And if we would have known about it earlier, we certainly would have planned our days at WDW differently knowing we could be more flexible getting from park to park without fighting the security lines. We would post photos, but there is no photography allowed in the arrival/departure areas.
